Mashed Potatoes= SUCCESS

Mashed Potatoes- SUCCESS!

Thanks for all of your positive wishes :) They must have helped, everyone devoured the potatoes. Thanksgiving was so much fun! We headed over to Gina's house at about 4 o'clock & stayed until 9. Everyone got their daily fix with little Miss Kennedy & we got to catch up with everyone from out of town. I ate way too much so I would say it was a success for me as well ;)  Baby girl was amazing, she did so well with all of the people and chatter and was a total ham, just capturing everyone. Tonight we are heading to dinner at the Landmark for our 2nd family dinner (its a tradition to do 2 dinners on thanksgiving weekend) to celebrate everyone coming up, and Andy's Birthday which is on Monday. I gave him his birthday gift yesterday so he could enjoy it & he used it all day yesterday. It was a portable dock for his iPod, which surprisingly he didn't have yet. He is always hooking his iTouch to our tv but this way he can bring it wherever.. ie. training room when he is on his bike, or the bathroom when he is showering. Usually he hauls one of the laptops around with him.. this is so much easier :)

I did not wake up with the avid shoppers this morning & hit the stores at 4am. I slept in, and snuggled with my baby girl until 8:45. It was heavenly. Then my sister came over & watched K so I could run out and do a few things & stop by the office and finish up a few things there.  Now I am spending my afternoon shopping online with a nice hot cup of cocoa. This is definitely the way to go. No lines, no angry people, no running out in the cold, no chasing the crowd trying to get to that ONE item. I get to pick out what I want with my dog sleeping on my lap & Kennedy sleeping in her swing next to me :)

I will leave you with some pictures since I have obviously been slacking on those :)

SWTS

Hello Skating with The Stars, right up my alley here. This season has two very important things.
1. It is ice skating, duh, and I LOVE everything about ice skating. Singles, pairs, watching, doing, the music, the jumps, the costumes, the person that pushes it just a little bit further every competition, and lets not forget ice skating movies... they compile into a good majority of all of my fave movies ie. The Cutting Edge, Ice Angel, Ice Castles, Ice Princess, Blades of Glory only to name a few.
2. REBECCA BUDIG is competing. It is safe to say that Rebecca is one of my favorite actresses. I have followed her on All My Children for so long & I just love her. She seems so down to earth, and I think she is a great actress. And who doesn't love the Ryan Lavery & Greenlee Smythe love story, I sure love it!
Unfortunately with a little 1 month old, it sometimes makes it impossible for me to stay up and watch some of my favorite shows. So thank goodness for DVR & abc.com allowing me to watch episodes. I will definitely be voting/cheering for Rebecca and Fred this season. Team Greenlee! :)

Watching that show just makes me itch for the snow to get here. I bought new ice skates last year & didn't even get a chance to skate on them yet! It is inevitable that Kennedy will have some kind of ice skating background, even if it is just skating around on the lake at Andy's parents house. I really hope she loves it :) It is something I have been obsessed with since I was little, rarely missing a competition on tv, and those that I did have to miss I think I still have taped on a vhs tape in a tote in our basement. One of my friends, Amber who went to a different school growing up, skated for their team (unfortunately the town that I grew up in didn't offer skating in school) and she just had a little baby girl, Olivia, a couple of days ago so we have been talking about how our kids have a prearranged friendship already & hopefully we can take them to the rink and bring them skating together. (Amber and I used to skate together when we were in highschool at the rink in town). How exciting!   Oh and I must mention that I also can't wait to ski. There are actually all sorts of cool winter things to do in MQT, as long as you like the snow!

Well I am off to try to master this mashed potato recipe... I hope I don't mess it up! I made a good point when talking to my bestfriend Sarah earlier, I offered to bring a dish to Thanksgiving Dinner expecting to be assigned to jello salad, or even rolls? Those are easy enough.. but instead I was given one of the IMPORTANT side dishes and as easy as mashed potatoes seem to be to make, if anyone can mess it up, that would be this girl! Especially when I am under so much pressure to follow a special recipe and am kindly reminded by my husband that potatoes in his family are like gold.  Wish me luck :)  I hope everyone has a GREAT Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for, and I hope you all have things to be thankful for as well.  God bless!

Oh and Sarah, I can't wait to read your first blog post, I will be waiting ;)

Season's Greetings

We put our Christmas tree up today! Call me crazy but I LOVE Christmas and not because I like getting presents, but I love the lights, decorations, smells, family gatherings, christmas shows & songs, snow, wrapping presents & seeing people's faces when they open gifts that I have bought for them. My bestfriend, Sarah and I have always put up our decorations early & begun countdowns to Christmas starting in November. Well I got a text message from Oregon lastnight & it was a picture of her tree & it said "I couldn't help myself." I had been planning on putting up my decorations early anyway, but once I saw that, I knew I had to get my butt going. Don't get me wrong, I am not holiday jumping. I very much still look forward to Thanksgiving and love all of the yummy food & seeing family, I just figured I would get the decorations up early since we will be busy all week with family stuff & birthdays (November dominates my calendar for birthdays).. plus then K can enjoy the lights on the tree since she is beginning to be in awe of anything bright :)

This year for thanksgiving I am bringing a dish (how grown up of me) to Andy's grandma's house to help carry part of the load for his mom. Normally we go downstate for Thanksgiving, but with Kennedy being so little we didn't want to make the 7 hour drive so instead his two aunts are coming up here & Andy's Grandma (Gina) is hosting. One small problem though... Gina doesn't cook, or should I say we don't trust her to cook so everyone is making dishes. Pam (MIL) is doing a couple dishes besides making the mashed potatoes. 10 lbs of mashed potatoes. I offered to make 5lbs of them so she wouldn't have to do so much by herself and she gladly accepted my offer. Now onto the tough part... as easy as it may seem to make mashed potatoes... in Andy's family you have to follow the "recipe." Gina, and all of the kids all make potatoes the exact same way, and you don't mess with the potatoes, they are the party favorite. Anyone that has strayed away from the regular recipe of this golden food has been teased & went home with their potatoes... untouched. I hope I make them right... if not I will just claim the other 5lbs as mine ;)

Well I am going to get back to spending Sunday afternoon with Andy and Kennedy and enjoy the quiet around here. We have been all over town between both of our parents' houses this weekend & Andy had to work yesterday. The office being closed on Sundays is one of the many reasons I love this day. I get my husband home with us. Only 2 more full weeks until I have to go back to work... hello separation anxiety.
I would leave you with an angelic picture of K, but for some reason my blogger won't upload it :( I will have to post it later, or tomorrow.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

bathtime

How cute is our little octopus? She loved her bath tonight so I had to share these pictures with you.

Daddy and Kennedy

My little Octopus.

Night owl.

Well it is official. My daughter both LOVES to sleep and also LOVES to have storytime in the middle of the night.  K sleeps really well from like 9pm to about 1am when she starts to stir because she is hungry, so I get up with her, feed her and then she immediately falls right back to sleep. Then comes the 4am feeding. It seems someone is a little confused. She seems to think that after she eats that I am going to stay up and talk to her until she falls back asleep at about 7. She literally will just stare at me watching me. If I put her down she gets fussy and if I pick her back up she is calm as can be. We will get it right one of these days, until then she is lucky I find her so adorable :)

So besides that I have been having breastfeeding issues. I haven't been producing enough milk for my little babe & have had to supplement with formula in between feedings. I have tried everything that I know of to increase my milk production but nothing seems to be working. My mom had the same issue with my sister and I when we were babies and ended up having to formula feed. I am going to feed her Earth's Best Organic formula if I have to formula feed. I will continue to try to nurse her as long as I am producing SOMETHING but if I end up drying up, atleast she will  get the 2nd best. Anyone have any tips on how to keep your milk production up? I am open to any and all suggestions ladies!

Onto other news, I am having pictures of Kennedy done next week!  It will be perfect timing to have some developed and enlarged to put in our bedroom and to send out christmas cards of her little face.  We just finished painting our room & the trim is getting redone hopefully next week & I just ordered new bedding & curtains. I have some white frames to go on the walls, and I still need other light/bright artwork or pictures... ie pictures of my baby girl. I can't wait for it all to be done!

Well before I go, I do want to just mention something.  Please keep two of my friends, DB and DP ( I am using their initials in respect for their privacy during this difficult time)  in your thoughts and prayers. They lost one of their bestfriends last week, and could use any thoughts and prayers for their hurting hearts. Losing anyone is extremely tough but it is so much harder losing someone so young, so close to you & without any warning. Thinking of you two & I pray that you will find strength to get you through such a difficult time in your life.

To all of you hunter's out there, be safe.

2 weeks old.

First and Foremost. Happy Veteran's Day and thank you to all women and men who have served or are serving our country. I am so grateful for your commitment and courage. God Bless you.

Well K is 2 weeks old! Wow does time fly? It doesn't seem like we have had her for that long already. ::breathes into bag realizing I only has 4 more weeks until I go back to work::  She has been wonderful for the most part( lastnight she decided it was play from from 1:30 until about 5:30, silly girl). My mom has been a godsend and had time off of work for this whole week so she has been here helping me clean, take care of the baby & go to and from doctor appts. Having a c-section has limited me for awhile. I am not allowed to do chores or pick up anything heavier than the baby... this means the baby in a carseat.  Besides that, my incision has really healed well & I am feeling great. The other day it was really nice outside so I put Kennedy in a baby bjorn and we took the dogs for a walk by our house. I may have overdone it a little by climbing over trees and such, but it was nice to get out and get some fresh air for sure.  Also, this week my mom and I (mostly my mom) painted our master bedroom. Andy still has to do up by the ceiling with an edger, but other than that the room is officially, Mocha Accent. I love it!! Now I just need to get to the store and get some light colored photos and some new curtains. Easier said than done with a 2 week old. I'll post pictures of the finished project when it is.. finished :)

Now I will leave you with some pictures of my little beauty..

One week old.

Well little Miss Kennedy is one week and 2 days old today. I can't believe it has been that long already.  I told myself that I was going to keep up with blogging just like I did before she was born and now I sit here struggling to find time to blog. Not because I am overly exhausted or anything with her but just because I don't ever want to leave her side. I sit in awe of her while she sleeps the day away. I know they always say to take advantage of when your baby sleeps and catch up on sleep but I haven't been able to bring myself to that yet. I want to be awake just in case she wakes up because I know my 6 week maternity leave is going to go by quick and I want to relish in every moment with her that I can! Andy had last week off of work and went back to work today. It was kind of overwhelming knowing I had him to help me during the night and such before and then lastnight I wanted him to get rested so I pulled all the weight and it was tiring. But.. it is definitely worth it for my little angel. Starting today my mom is on "grandparent" leave. Since she works for the State of Michigan she gets that as a benefit and I can't be more thankful. She was here at 9 this morning to help out around the house and with the baby. Since I had a c-section, the doctors told me that until my 6 week check up I am not supposed to pick up anything heavier than the baby. That means no laundry, or carrying things around. I am not even allowed to vacuum! I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is to rely on someone else to keep my house clean to my standards... ESPECIALLY with a newborn here. I want things C-L-E-A-N.

Kennedy had a doctor appt this week. She needed to go see her pediatrician to be double checked since when she was born she was slightly jaundice and they wanted to make sure that it didn't rise any, which it didn't! She is perfect and the little bit of it went away within 48 hours of being home.  The doctor took her stats and here they are:

At 7 days old -
Length- 22 in
Weight- 8lb 9 1/2oz
Head Circumference- 13 1/2 in.
Cute as a button .. oh wait, that is just my observation :)

On another note, I am officially only 1 lb over my pre-pregnancy weight! I was lucky with the pregnancy and my weight gain. I gained enough that I needed to, but it was pretty much all baby so I was back to my old self immediately! Boy how I missed all of my clothes. I am so happy to not wear stretchy waist pants! Not that it wasn't for a good cause though. I'd do it over again in a heartbeat.

I apologize for not posting a ton of pictures of her but we lost our camera charger and our camera died. We had to order a new cord & it just came in the mail today so as I type this I am charging the camera so that I can play catch-up! Thankfully we do have some pictures (my mom is a camera freak) so we have been able to have her take pictures for us, but still, I want my own pictures.

Well I am going to get back to adoring my daughter while she sleeps in her swing! She lovessss being in there.

Oh ps. I woke up to snow on the ground this morning, and it put me in the Thanksgiving/Christmas mood. I love the holiday season and I have so much to be thankful for this year and can't wait to celebrate the season with my our new little addition.

Happy Friday all!

Just a few pictures to share with you of my little peanut.

Enjoy!
