waiting on the snow

This weather sucks.
(I know, way to start out your post all sorts of negative, but it is true.)

Yesterday it was low 40s with frost advisory at night. Really?
I am about to break out my long underwear and some Christmas Carols.
We have so many different family & friends coming into town this weekend for the Holiday & it is calling for rain with a chance of thunderstorms and a high of 62! Seriously mother nature? How am I supposed to enjoy the outdoors when it isn't nice to spend time out there? I know I should be thankful that I am not in the states getting hit by tornadoes or floods. Trust me, I think about those people & would help in any way I could. But it is still annoying to be stuck indoors all the time. I think my daughter is a little too young still to be playing in puddles.

Besides complaining about the weather, I haven't been up to very many exciting things.  I did sign up to get the newspaper delivered to our house so that I don't have to run out to get the paper for coupons...
lazy or efficient?
I am going to go with efficient.

Oh & I went and got a manicure on Tuesday evening. I figured I deserved it since I haven't had anything done with my nails since my wedding.. in 2009. I did paint them myself, but it is never as good as at the salon. I suppose that is why they are called professionals and get paid to do them.

I spent Wednesday with my mom, sister & nephew (and Kenne of course). I woke up early & bribed made my mom breakfast to come over to hang out with the babe so I could paint a wall in her bedroom that I have been meaning to do since... ready for this..... before she was born 7 months ago... GASP. This is where you can label me lazy if you'd like, I won't hate.
Anyway, she did indeed give into my wonderful cooking skills and came over and I got the wall done (I may or may not have talked my mom into doing the top by the ceiling for me).
I'll post a picture once I get the stuff back up on her wall which will be done this weekend.
Then we went to some stores and I picked up scrapbook stuff so I can start on K's scrapbook. I found such good finds at Michaels. Then when I get home I start to look for pictures & realize I haven't had any....ANY pictures of Kennedy developed in like 2 or 3 months. wtf mate. So I ordered some through walgreens to pick up yesterday since I had some things to get from there (you know, before the coupon expired on Saturday) So needless to say, I now have plenty of pictures to start scrapbooking with. Probably 99.9% of all pictures I have taken since the last time I had them developed. Which reminds me, until the end of May they have a deal going on for pictures, so if you need some, order them up!

I also decided that I am going to volunteer at the beacon house here in town. It is sort of like a Ronald McDonald house but small and local. They do different things in our community so I thought I would really like  to get involved. I am going to start off by helping at the soup kitchen type events once a month.

Ok, my arm is starting to get tired from typing with one hand. Why you might ask? Because I have a 7 month old snuggled into my left arm snoozing away and I find her way too precious to move. :)

So on that note, I am off. I hope everyone has a wonderful & safe holiday weekend.

Stay tuned next week for a guest blogger!!
I'm going to keep it a surprise!

Randoms & a bunch of pictures

Well I have different things to update on so I am just going to call this post Randoms & that is pretty much how the post is going to go. If you are looking for this update to flow properly & make sense together, it is not gonna happen. :)

The weather these last couple of days have been wonderful. Yesterday I was able to go out to my in-laws house & we went for a boatride. Kennedy LOVES the boat. She sat with my MIL the whole time just giggling :)

When we got back from the boatride, I was able to get out on my SUP. I did, however, have to wear my wetsuit! The water is still bitter cold. I paddled around by myself & actually standing for awhile, but Andy only got pictures of when I talked Riley (one of our dogs) to come on it with me :) I see where I rank ..

Riley was a little nervous at first but then she didn't want to get off, or let Bode on for that matter :) Oh sibling rivalry.

We also got a chance to bring kennedy's swimming pool out. I have been waiting for it to be nice enough to get her in a suit and let her splash around. Let's just say it didn't go as planned. She hated it. As soon as I put her in it, she started crying and wouldn't stop until I took her out. Trying to get her used to it, I put her Sophie the Giraffe in it and she immediately started crying, almost to say, " no get sophie out NOW!" I am going to keep trying until she likes it, I think she just needs to get used to it still because she loves bathtime & splashing around. Maybe mama needs to get in with her too.

doing ok because just her feet are in and I am still holding on

gearing up for the tears..

"Get me out now!"

right now!

After that even if I tried putting her feet in she would scream. Maybe she is just cranky because she has TWO TEETH COMING IN. Yes, you heard me right, my little angel has two of her bottom teeth coming in. One of them if really in and really sharp.. the other is trailing behind! She is growing up way too fast for me. :(
She has been pretty good with it and it hasn't seemed to cause too much pain, but she does have her moments. And oh do we not look forward to those moments.

Onto other things, this past Tuesday was my Grandma's 81st birthday! My grandma, mom, Kennedy & I went to Red Lobster for lunch when I got done with work and had a great girls' lunch. Here are a few pictures of that.
laughing at daddy making faces

Hanging out on mama and daddy's bed

waiting for me to get dressed ;)

Kenne & Great Grandma Alice

Kisses for the babe.

Kenne, my grandma & myself after lunch.

Well that is all I have for now.. I am going to go enjoy the rest of the day outside with Kennedy & the dogs. Oh and take care of my husband who had oral surgery on Thursday & is still hurting.. Poor Guy. Nothing serious, just had a blocked saliva gland, but they cut open his lip and he has a ton of stitches in there. :(

Happy Saturday everyone!!

What the hell is wrong with Blogger. People's comments on my reader are all over the place & definitely not in order. Ugh. Annoying.

Ok anyway I just wanted to share with you what I woke up to this morning .

my loves <3

They woke up earlier than mama did & took their morning nap on the couch.

ahhh... this is the life.

Baby clothes!

Lets talk baby clothes.

(I know I know.. you are thinking "What? Two posts in one day from Jody??" -  I like to spice things up sometimes)

Ok what were we talking about? Oh yes.. baby clothes.
I find it so hard to spend a good chunk of money on baby clothes when Kennedy will grow out of them in oh say... a month. You would think since baby clothes have such a turn around, the designers would try to go a little easy on your wallet. Not so much. See the thing is, they know you can't (well you could but he/she might look funny) let your baby go naked..all of the time. Sure you are going to let your baby lay around in his or her diaper on a really hot day around the house or after their bath, but come on, I don't know about you but I sure as hell am not going to bring my daughter out in public without any clothes on. I mean come on people.. No Shoes No Shirt, No Service (although sometimes Kennedy doesn't wear shoes, ha!). And baby clothing designers/companies loveeeee that we have a atleast a little bit of dignity about it. Come on girls, you know who you are.. the ones letting their 16 5 year olds run around stores in just their underwear..shame on you. So we spend the money & buy the clothes, well atleast I do. And I find it amusing that the cutest little outfits... are usually the more expensive ones. But what do I do? I buy those ones. I just rationalize that she is my little baby.. and what baby wants... baby gets. Because she is the one that asks for the things I buy her, duh. :)

I have recently fell in love with the sign Mini Boden. I love their outfits & I think they are so cute. Although they aren't the cheapest clothes in the world, they aren't the most expensive either. A happy medium. Enne will for sure be sporting some of these cute outfits this summer. Now if only Mother Nature would catch on to what types of clothing the stores are selling & send us some warm weather again up here in Michigan.

So other mamas, where are your favorite places to shop for your little ones??

Please share.

I am not 21 anymore

Wow. Having a child not only changed the way I see things in life, but also the way I feel after a night of drinking. Yikes. My cousin Theresa was up since Saturday & flew out yesterday morning. I never get to see her which sucks. My uncle was in the Navy right out of highschool & he met my aunt in the Philippines where they also had my cousins. Once he retired they moved back to the states but only lived in Michigan for 2 years before deciding the winters were too cold & moving on to Arizona. My cousin Theresa is a year older than me but we never really knew eachother that well growing up. She is in the Air Force right now and never gets time off, so she was able to get a few days off for family things going on & she flew up here as well as my uncle from Arizona. Well.... Tuesday night (since I don't work on Wednesdays) we decided to go out for dinner & a few drinks. That didn't happen. We ended up going to three (not a bar, not two bars... THREE.. on a weeknight) different bars because we ran into my other cousin & he wanted us to go with him! And it doesn't end there. We sang karaoke. A lot of it.  And 2am came around and we headed home.  The room was spinning until about noon yesterday. So conclusion is... I am definitely not 21 anymore and can't drink like a fish.

We were supposed to go visit some of our friends tomorrow night and go golfing & then go out but now it is calling for 40s and rain, and then some more rain & we don't know if we should postpone it for a little while until we know the weather might stay nice. I was loving the weather last week, Enne was able to wear some of her summer stuff that I bought her and play outside. Now all of a sudden it is cold and rainy again. If only Edward Cullen would come out of the woods next to my house. A girl can dream, right?

Well since there is nothing better to do during this cold and rainy day, Kennedy and I are going to continue our online shopping spree, take a nap together then get ready for my sister-in-laws awards ceremony tonight. She is receiving an award for choreographing plays for the Marquette Arts and Culture program. What a Huge honor for her. We are all so proud.

Now if I could only get Becky over at From Mrs. to Mama to tell me her couponing tricks because I am in need of some more diapers. ;)

Oh and who is excited for the Bachelorette in a couple of weeks?? I am!

I smile when she cries.

Everytime my little baby takes a nap, as much as I love a little alone time to get some things done, I can't wait until she wakes up. I can be doing whatever and as soon as I hear her cry from her crib saying "mama I am awake" I always catch myself smiling. I smile because I know she is alright (I am a worrier, I can't help it)and that she is ready to play again. She is the happiest baby these days and especially when she sees myself or Andy walk into the room when she wakes up. She gets the biggest smile across her face and babbles at you. I like to pretend that we are having a conversation so I say Goodmorning back to her and ask how she slept and say oh I slept well thank you.

Yesterday it was gorgeous outside. Absolutely gorgeous. And did I mention that I have Wednesdays off? K and I spent most of the day outside. We played in the front yard and walked around the neighborhood. Then Andy surprised us and left work early so he pulled into the driveway at 3! My mom was on her way over at the time to go for a bikeride, so all 4 of us went. K in her Chariot and we rode all around Marquette and then stopped at Frosty Treats on our way back home. It was a fun to have my mom with us. I love spending time with her and Kennedy just loves her Grandma. (Both of them for that matter.. she lights up when either walks in the door)

After we got home we had dinner & I begged Andy to go to the store with me because I wanted a new accent rug for our living room, one that is a little bigger & softer for Kennedy to sit and crawl around on. We have hard wood floors and I know that wouldn't feel very nice on her knees. Right now we have a 5x7 rug and we ended up buying a new one 8x11. I can't wait to put it down! I am holding out because Andy is in the midst of finishing our tv room downstairs & then we are going to move our sectional couch down there and get new leather couches for upstairs. The rug that I bought will match those, not our blue sectional so I am going to hold off on putting the new one down until we are ready to make the furniture switch or it will drive me crazy. Now for those of you that know me... lets see how long that lasts. Jody = needs instant gratification. Trust me, its my husband's favorite quality about me ;)

Another beautiful day today... I don't want to get ahead of myself but maybe just maybe this nice weather is here to stay! Andy and I are heading to our friends house in Menominee next weekend for a night to have a night out and also to pick up our boat from the marina so we can put it in the water!

Thats all for now... oh wait, you probably want to see some pictures :)

alright mom, this photoshoot is over.

Happy Thursday!

Hello May.

How nice of you to join us. I could hardly notice with all of the white stuff that keeps dropping from the sky.

I know.. I have been absent. But not really. I have been lurking around on blogger, just didn't really have much to write about. Yes I could write about how amazing I think my daughter is, and how she is sticking her foot in her mouth and anything else that she gets her little hands on for that matter, or how she has learned to pull the velcro on her diaper to undo them when she is laying on the changing table, but I haven't.

Frankly I haven't had the energy to blog. I have been struggling with the idea lately. I have a lot of stuff going on right now and I feel like I just need to spend my time elsewhere & doing other things. Not that I don't love you girls, because I do, and I love reading everyone's blogs and I feel like I have made some really cool connections and possible friends but I just go to create a new post and freeze. There are some things that I don't want to talk about on blogger but I don't know if it is because I don't want the whole world(because blogger is the whole world right?) knowing everything or because it just hurts to talk about. Lets just say I am emotionally drained and it has been a long time coming. It isn't something new that I am dealing with and it isn't something that I feel I will ever get the answer to.  No it is nothing between Andy and I if you are thinking that :)  It has to do with one of my other family members and we will leave it at that for now. Maybe I will get the balls someday to talk about it on here.. maybe not though.

The weather has been all over the place in Michigan. It literally went from 50/60s to snow the next day, back to warm, to snow the next. Yesterday it snowed & I woke up with ice on my car and today it was 40s and sun all day and tomorrow it calls for 60s. I am so fed up with this weather.. I just want to get Kennedy outside to enjoy the nice weather. She loves it! On Sunday we went hiking with the dogs and took Kennedy in the backpack and I'd like to think she enjoyed it!

In other news we got a call the other day and we got a slip in the marina downtown for our boat! We are pretty excited about that because we were on a waiting list and it was a huge hassle to trailer our boat back and forth everytime we wanted to use it. We have a 27ft boat with a cabin in it & it isn't the lightest in the world :) Hopefully we will get a ton more use out of it this summer! Especially around the 4th of July... We will be anchoring out in the cove with some of our friends for sure.

Baby girl did turn 6 months on the 27th! I haven't done a 6-month post yet because I don't know any of her stats. Her appointment isn't until next Thursday so I will make sure to fill everyone in then :) We did celebrate her 1/2 birthday though, or maybe just I did. DH thought I was going a little overboard...ahhh such is life. I bought her a starter laptop, that teaches her numbers, letters, noises, shapes & lights up all over... really it is just a bunch of big buttons but it looks like a laptop and she LOVES it. She is always trying to grab mine so I figured it was time she got her own.. now if only I could teach her to do my work?  kidding...sort of.. And also I got her the Ride and Stride Dino... she was pretty excited about it even though she can't sit on it on her own yet. I have to hold her.
Please ignore the following... stuff scattered all over the floor( I emptied all my target bags on the floor), the drool going down Kennedy's onsie, my creepy dog minus her head standing in the picture & me awkwardly leaning to get out of the picture. Lets just say that my husband isn't the most attentive picture taker. I would have been all over what would have been in the background. :)

Ok well I am back to mama duty. It's a full-time job, ya know...

Happy Tuesday!
