Basement update & upstairs refresher

Well to update you guys on our basement project. Right before we left for Florida we received the bid from the contractor we wanted to work with.  It blew us away. It was double what we had wanted to spend. I was losing hope and I was losing it fast.  We took time on our trip to just enjoy our time and not worry about what we were going to do about it when we got back.

Well today Andy and his dad met with the contractor again and discussed "phasing." He is going to work up another plan and exclude some of the rooms/things that we don't necessarily NEED right now. Then we can work our way towards that. I am hoping this fits better into our budget. With the new plan we would be holding off on openining up the staircase to the upstairs and leaving the door/wall on the stairway for now, not finishing the 2nd guest bedroom in the basement (we still would finish the other) and also he would look into holding off a couple of cosmetic things we want to put in the workout/playroom.  Crossing all of my fingers and toes that we can move forward with the renovation with those adjustments.

Well to fill in the disappointment of the basement news I decided to do a little refreshing upstairs. I rearranged some things, and added some decorative pieces to the living room.  I actually just ordered a new shag rug for Kenne's bedroom (it will match her decor in her new bedroom as well) and I also ordered new dining room chairs!

I have been obsessed with the Marais chairs for some time now. I really love the french feel to them and have been drooling over the ones at Pottery Barn.
hello gorgeous

What I wasn't drooling over was the price of these bad boys. So I kept looking. The first place I went was overstock because let's be honest here... Overstock is my go-to place for everything. They are so well-priced. I am so happy I was able to find exactly what I was looking for and ordered these yesterday!

swoon

They came in a set of 4 so I am going to look for some type of upholstered chairs for the end seats but I want to wait to see the height so I know what to work with.  I cannot WAIT for them to get here. our table is a plain wood table. It is going to look totally fabulous in my head. Let's just hope it looks how I think it will. I am going to add some pop of color for the table centerpiece. Ahh! Such a fresh look. I am so in love with the mix of styles.

What kind of decor styles are you guys loving right now??

Cute chairs! They remind me of the chairs that another blogger ("Decor and the Dog") has!
